Russell C. Marians is the Associate Director of Cell Therapy Analytical Development at Gates Biomanufacturing Facility (GBF). He has nearly 20 years of industry experience spanning start-ups to multinational companies, including direct experience with biologics development, medical devices, diagnostics and cell therapy

He has developed five IND-enabling cGMP processes in both biologics and cell therapy. 

At GBF, Russel facilitates early-stage technology and assay transfer. He also works closely with QC and QA to develop release criteria and phase appropriate analytical qualification plans.

He is also the author of this seminal study on Applying Process Analytical Technology in a Phase 1 Cell Therapy Facility.

Russell received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from New Mexico State University and earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Mount Sinai Graduate School of Biological Sciences of New York University.
