Physician researcher Mathew Angelos, MD, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the CU Anschutz Department of Medicine’s Division of Hematology, became Medical Director of the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility in December 2025. Angelos earned bachelor’s of science degrees in biomedical engineering and chemistry at Duke University and went on to complete a post-baccalaureate research program at the National Cancer Institute, which sparked his interest in translational research. He completed a dual MD/PhD degree at the University of Minnesota, followed by a residency and a hematology-oncology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
